WineDirect Classic is shutting down: existing clients can use it until December 31, 2026, after Commerce7’s parent company Fullsteam acquired WineDirect’s direct-to-consumer software division. Commerce7 is the natural home for your club, POS, and ecommerce, but your tasting room reservations, events, and discovery do not have to move with your POS, and for wineries of every size the strongest place for them is Oxto Reserve, which runs alongside any POS and imports your club roster by CSV.
This guide covers what was announced, what WineDirect Classic actually did for reservations and events, a checklist for the move, a decision table, and a week-by-week plan that respects the one date nobody can move.
Is WineDirect shutting down?
The WineDirect Classic software is. In January 2025, Commerce7 announced that its parent company Fullsteam had agreed to acquire WineDirect’s direct-to-consumer SaaS division, with about 35 WineDirect employees joining Commerce7. Commerce7’s published FAQ said Classic clients could stay on the platform for up to two years, with no new enhancements beyond a payment-provider change, and WineDirect’s own site now says Classic can be used until December 31, 2026.
Two things are not shutting down. WineDirect Fulfillment, the shipping and warehousing business, continues as its own service. And your data is yours: Commerce7 said it covers the cost of POS, club, ecommerce, and data migration for WineDirect clients who move.
- January 2025. Fullsteam agrees to acquire WineDirect’s DTC software division; WineDirect staff join Commerce7.
- Within 90 days. Clients on All-New WineDirect were moved to Commerce7 because the underlying BigCommerce partnership was ending.
- December 31, 2026. Last day to use WineDirect Classic.
What did WineDirect do for tasting room reservations and events?
Less than many wineries assume, which means there may be less to move. Per WineDirect’s Classic documentation:
- Reservations ran through Tock. WineDirect partnered with Tock for tastings, tours, and events, as a separate platform with a separate subscription. The integration pulled contact info and club membership from WineDirect and sent reservations back as orders, and it was limited to Tock’s Premium tiers.
- Event tickets were store products. A Classic event ticket is a product SKU sold through the online store, and the docs note that checkout still shows the hard-coded shipping and pickup options.
- Events were a website calendar. The events feature is a block or list calendar in the content editor, not a capacity-managed booking system.
That creates a double change for many wineries. If you paired WineDirect with Tock, your commerce platform ends December 31, 2026, and your reservation platform’s consumer app has already folded into Resy after American Express merged the two in 2026. Both halves of your guest stack are moving in the same year. See Tock is now Resy for that side.
Do my reservations have to move with my POS?
No. Club shipping, POS, and ecommerce belong together, and Commerce7 is purpose-built for that job. Commerce7 also sells a reservations module, so bundling is an option. But nothing about the WineDirect shutdown forces your tasting room bookings into the same system as your register.
Keeping reservations separate is often the stronger setup. A reservation platform should be judged on reservation work: prepaid and complimentary bookings, deposits, reservation requests, ticketed events with capacity, member perks at the moment of booking, and whether it brings guests you would not otherwise reach. A commerce platform is judged on club processing, shipping compliance, and checkout. Few systems are best at both.
Oxto Reserve is built to sit beside whichever POS you choose. Import your club roster by CSV so members are flagged when they book, set member rates, comps, and blackout dates, and let Oxto run tastings, events, and discovery while Commerce7 or any other POS runs the register and the club. Oxto is not a club-shipping, POS, or ecommerce platform, and it does not need to be.
What are the best WineDirect alternatives for reservations?
Decide commerce and reservations as two separate questions. Pricing is from each company’s published pages as of September 2026; card processing is extra everywhere.
| Job | Best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Club processing and shipping | Commerce7 | Purpose-built DTC club and shipping tools; migration cost covered for WineDirect clients |
| Tasting room POS and ecommerce | Commerce7 | Same system as your club, with migration support |
| Tasting reservations and deposits | Oxto Reserve | $125/mo + 1.5%, or $1,250/yr at 0%; widget, prepaid, deposits, and requests included |
| Ticketed events and waitlists | Oxto Reserve | Event capacity, waitlists, and per-event club member benefits |
| Club member perks at booking | Oxto Reserve | Roster by CSV, member rates, comps, and blackout dates |
| Finding new guests | Oxto | 790+ wineries, 16K+ active users, taste-matched discovery on web and iOS |
| Multiple estates on one login | Oxto Reserve | Winery switcher, team roles per winery, unlimited users |
For reservations specifically, here is how the options stack up on a $3,000 month in tastings: Oxto Reserve is $170 ($125 plus 1.5%). CellarPass Professional, its first plan with a booking widget, is $289 ($229 plus 2%). Tock Essential, now part of Resy, is about $379 if those bookings are prepaid ($289 plus 3%). What should a winery export from WineDirect before December 31?
Export first, decide second. Everything below is worth having in your own files, whatever platform you land on.
- Customer and club data. Contacts, club memberships, tiers, join dates, and marketing consent. Commerce7 handles this migration, but keep your own copy.
- Club roster as a CSV. The one file your reservation platform needs so members get their perks at booking.
- Reservation and event history. Reservation orders and event-ticket orders for at least 12 to 24 months, including no-shows if you tracked them.
- Future bookings and tickets. Every reservation and event ticket dated after your switch, with what was paid, so each guest is honored once.
- Experiences and policies. Tasting names, capacities, prices, cancellation and deposit rules, copied exactly.
- Every booking link. Your website, Google Business Profile, social bios, email footers, and printed QR codes. List them now so none still point to a dead page in January.
How much time is left to switch before the WineDirect shutdown?
Less than it looks. The cutoff lands at the end of the busiest stretch of the tasting room year: harvest visitors, holiday parties, gift-buying weekends, and year-end club releases. Nobody wants to rebuild a booking flow the week before Christmas, and December 31 does not move.
- By mid-October. Pick your commerce platform and your reservation platform as separate decisions. Export everything on the checklist above.
- By early November. Rebuild tastings and events on the new reservation platform, import the club roster, and set member perks. Take new holiday bookings there.
- Mid-November. Swap the booking widget and every link. Leave the old system live only for bookings already on it.
- December. Run the holidays on the new setup, with January fully clear of legacy dependencies.
The math on waiting is simple. A holiday weekend of seated tastings, say ten parties of four at $50 a person, is $2,000 of bookings. A broken widget or a dead link during that weekend does not show up as an error, it shows up as a guest who booked somewhere else.
Why is Oxto Reserve the obvious choice for WineDirect wineries?
- Runs alongside any POS. Keep Commerce7 or any other system for club and checkout. Oxto handles reservations, events, and discovery.
- Every booking type included. Party sizes, tiered pricing, deposits and split payments, prepaid and complimentary reservations, reservation requests you approve, and no-show mode.
- Events that manage themselves. Ticketed events with capacity, waitlists, and per-event member benefits: complimentary tickets, a percent off, or a dollar discount.
- Built for every size. From a single tasting room to multi-estate groups: one login across wineries, team roles per winery, unlimited users and events, 24/7 support.
- Guests you do not have yet. A discovery marketplace of 790+ wineries across 45+ regions with 16K+ active users, plus guest taste profiles and visit history on every booking.
- Low risk. Guests book free, payouts go to your own bank through Stripe, and it is $125 a month plus 1.5%, or $1,250 a year at 0%.

Frequently asked questions
Is WineDirect shutting down?
WineDirect Classic is. After Commerce7’s parent company Fullsteam acquired WineDirect’s direct-to-consumer software division in 2025, WineDirect said existing clients can use Classic until December 31, 2026. WineDirect Fulfillment continues as a separate shipping service.
Do I have to move my reservations to Commerce7?
No. Commerce7 is the natural home for WineDirect club, POS, and ecommerce data, but reservations can live anywhere. Oxto Reserve runs alongside any POS: import your club roster by CSV and Oxto handles tastings, events, deposits, member perks, and discovery for $125 a month plus 1.5% per reservation.
What is the best WineDirect alternative for tasting room reservations?
Oxto Reserve is the strongest reservations choice for most wineries leaving WineDirect Classic. It includes the booking widget, prepaid and complimentary reservations, deposits, reservation requests, ticketed events with waitlists, and club member perks, plus a taste-matched discovery marketplace, for $125 a month plus 1.5% or $1,250 a year at 0%.
How did WineDirect handle reservations?
WineDirect Classic handled reservations through a Tock integration, a separate subscription limited to Tock’s Premium tiers, and sold event tickets as store product SKUs. Since Tock has merged into Resy, many WineDirect wineries face two platform changes in 2026, which makes it a sensible time to choose one reservation platform deliberately.
Is Oxto a POS or wine club shipping platform?
No. Oxto is not a POS, ecommerce, or club-shipping platform; Commerce7 and similar systems handle that. Oxto Reserve runs reservations, ticketed events, member perks at booking, and guest discovery alongside whichever POS a winery uses, with club rosters imported by CSV.
Is Oxto a good fit for a large or multi-estate winery?
Yes. Oxto Reserve serves wineries of every size, from a single tasting room to multi-estate portfolios. One login covers several wineries through a winery switcher, each winery has team members with roles, users and events are unlimited, and 24/7 support is included.
When should a winery switch before the WineDirect Classic shutdown?
Aim to have reservations running on the new platform by early November 2026, so holiday bookings land in the new system and December 31 passes without a scramble. Export customer, club, reservation, and event data first, and keep your own copies.
