About
Mario Tabone has been farming this Old Mission Peninsula property since 2003, but didn't release his first vintage until 2014. That decade of patience shows—these are estate wines from vines over 30 years old, where extra hangtime translates to concentrated flavors. The portfolio skews aromatic whites (Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris) plus Chardonnay and two sparklers that regulars keep coming back for. The tasting room trades traditional guided tastings for flights and glasses, served on a patio where dogs get as much attention as the humans. Mario and co-owner Renell keep it small-batch and hands-on, with charcuterie plates spring through fall and yard games for kids. It's the kind of place where the winemaker might pour your wine himself.
The Oxto Edit
Oxto AIOwner-winemaker operation where the guy who picks the grapes is the same one making your wine. The three-decade-old vines give concentrated fruit, and it shows in the Gewürztraminer and sparkling wines. Renell (co-owner) runs the tasting room and apparently makes everyone feel like family.
