About
Shady Lane Cellars runs a different playbook than most Leelanau wineries. They've built a year-round operation that works equally well if you roll up on bikes or skis—there's a groomed XC trail through the vineyard from the TART path, fire pits outside, and heated igloo rooms when Lake Michigan's wind cuts too hard. The Riesling and Pinot Noir do what they should in this cold-climate region, but the real tell is the Frozé slushies and the fact that dogs outnumber sommeliers. The wine club's worth it if you're local; the vibe's worth it if you're visiting and tired of tasting rooms that take themselves too seriously.
