Rotie Cellars makes their name on The Rocks District AVA, a geologically bizarre patch of Milton-Freewater where Missoula Flood deposits left the ground covered in fist-sized basalt stones. It's punishing vineyard work but produces Syrah with a distinctive mineral edge—saline, focused, tense. They also run House of Bones for Burgundy varieties and Proper Wines for Washington fruit, but the estate Rocks District Syrahs are what put them on the map. The tasting room sits elevated above their estate vineyard with clean sightlines across the cobblestones. At $40 per tasting, they're asking you to take the terroir conversation seriously.
