Macari sprawls across nearly 500 acres in Mattituck, making it one of the North Fork's biggest players by land. The family operation grows Cabernet Franc as their calling card—and they've got the acreage to do single-vineyard bottlings right. Guided tastings happen in the barrel cellar or on the covered deck, all led by wine educators who know the blocks. They recently opened Meadowlark, a second property in Cutchogue focused on limited wines and experimental techniques. Reservations required. No walk-in tastings unless you're in the wine club, which tells you something about how they see their audience. The lunch program pairs local cheese and pizza with their wines. Corporate groups book the barrel room. Bachelorettes show up for the vineyard views. It's a winery that built scale without losing the plot on Long Island terroir.
