About
Progeny operates at the scale where everything can be done right: 32 planted acres on a 260-acre Mt. Veeder estate, extended barrel aging, vertical tastings as standard practice. Their flagship Special Selection Reserve Cabernet gets the full treatment, while Trinity Blanc (200 cases of Marsanne/Roussanne/Viognier) proves they're not just another mountain Cab house. The architecture is modern without being obnoxious, and they've got an on-site chef pairing to the wines. Owner Paul Woolls still sits with guests, a rarity at this level. It's the kind of place that could charge twice as much but doesn't.
The Oxto Edit
Oxto AIProgeny is for the collector who gets off on comparing vintages. They'll pour you four different years of their Cab side-by-side with cheese that actually makes sense. The Trinity Blanc, Marsanne/Roussanne/Viognier, is one of Napa's better arguments for white wine existing at all. Only 200 cases, so you'll need to join to see it.
