Hawthorne Vineyards occupies prime Old Mission Peninsula real estate with unobstructed views across both Grand Traverse Bays and their own vineyard rows. The tasting room avoids the overwrought wine country aesthetic—horseshoe bar, deck with fireplace, Adirondack chairs on the lawn. Their barrel-aged Chardonnay consistently draws praise from visitors who've tasted their way across the peninsula. The vibe is approachable without dumbing down the wine. Staff know their product and the region. Spring and fall wine club shipments include six bottles of estate-grown selections. Reservations are encouraged but they work walk-ins into the schedule when possible. Hours run daily: Sunday through Thursday 11am-6pm, Friday and Saturday until 7pm.

Oxto AIHawthorne sits on Old Mission Peninsula with sight lines to both Grand Traverse Bays. The barrel-aged Chardonnay is what regulars order. Outdoor deck, lawn seating, fireplace—it's built for lingering. Reservations recommended but walk-ins get squeezed in.
