About
Green Bird operates as a closed-loop farm system in a secluded valley off M-22—vineyard, orchard, livestock, and winemaking all on one 15-acre property. They follow beyond-organic regenerative methods: compost and fish fertilizer for soil, neem oil and fermented herbal teas for pest management, no synthetic chemicals. The wines tend dry, made from estate fruit in an on-site wine cellar. Free Friday farm tours from June through October walk you through the vines, the bunker where they make wine, and pastures where sheep and chickens actively participate in the farming system. They also produce hard ciders from orchard fruit and sell pastured eggs. The tasting room reflects the unfussy ethos—walk-ins welcome, groups over six should call ahead, and they explicitly refuse drop-in tour buses to preserve the low-key atmosphere. This is winemaking as part of a larger agricultural practice, not a polished tasting room operation.
