The Oxto Edit
Oxto AILen Parris came back from Italy in 1997 and decided to recreate Tuscany in Benton City. Somehow it worked—the estate vineyard grows serious Sangiovese and Barbera alongside Bordeaux varieties, all with views of Red Mountain. The villa opened in 2005 and feels more authentic than most Italian knockoffs.
About
Chandler Reach is what happens when someone takes an Italy trip seriously enough to plant 42 acres of Sangiovese in Washington. The estate vineyard sits between Red Mountain and Horse Heaven Hills, growing Italian varieties (Sangiovese, Barbera) alongside Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. The Tuscan-style villa tasting room opened in 2005 and manages to pull off the Mediterranean aesthetic without feeling like a theme park—helped by the fact that they're actually making credible Italian-style wines from their own fruit. They've been at it for over two decades now, run by two generations of the Parris family. There's a second tasting room in Woodinville's Hollywood District for Seattle-area access, but the Benton City estate is where the vineyard views are. Live music Saturdays at the Woodinville location.
