Alamitos is one of those weekends-only, reservation-recommended spots where the setting outpaces the cellar. They're making barely 100 cases a year—Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet, Syrah, port—and charging Napa-adjacent prices ($45-50/bottle) for wines that are still learning to walk. The view over Almaden Reservoir from their Adirondack chairs is legitimately beautiful, and the vibe is friendly and low-key. But this is a fledgling winery banking on scenery and San Jose proximity. The Oxto Edit
Oxto AIA tiny hillside operation bottling under 100 cases a year from its Almaden plot. The lineup covers Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet, Syrah and a port, with bottles around $45 to $50. The reservoir view and Adirondack chairs make it an easy place to linger. Open weekends only.
