About
Desert Wind makes Columbia Valley reds the way Washington does them best—ripe, structured, and built for food. Winemaker Matías Kúsulas farms estate vineyards across Wahluke Slope and Yakima Valley sustainably, then ages the fruit long in barrel to tame Washington's natural exuberance. The Lawrence family took over in 2021 with a straightforward mission: honor the twenty-year legacy while keeping the wines approachable. The result is full-bodied reds that balance generosity with restraint, the kind of bottles that work on a Tuesday as well as they do for celebrations. They also run a small inn above the tasting room, though highway noise and steep back stairs come with the territory.
The Oxto Edit
Oxto AIFounded 2003, acquired by the Lawrence family in 2021. Estate vineyards on Wahluke Slope and Yakima Valley farmed sustainably. Winemaker and viticulturist Matías Kúsulas focuses on small-lot, structured reds with extended barrel aging. Also operates as lodging with rooms above tasting room.
