Bel Lago sits on Lake Leelanau making approachable wines that won't intimidate or bankrupt you. Their Late Harvest Riesling won gold at TEXSOM, which matters, but mostly this is a place to eat pizza, drink Gewürztraminer, and look at water. They run foraging hikes at their North Farm property with local expert Kelly Harris — mushrooms, ramps, Highland cattle grazing the vineyard. Live music happens regularly. The staff actually talks to you. Michigan wine country without the pretense, priced like they know where they are.
The Oxto Edit
Oxto AITheir 2025 Late Harvest Riesling took gold at TEXSOM, but the real draw is the property itself — vineyard foraging hikes through Highland cattle pastures and consistent pizza service from Market 22. The wines are drinkable and fairly priced, not trying to be California.
